About Us

Anam Yoga currently runs classes in Charlestown and Warners Bay, Lake Macquarie, NSW. Cari Havican is our principal teacher and is fully qualified to provide one-to-one tuition for those looking to harness the many physical, mental and spiritual benefits that undertaking yoga brings. Whether you are attending a group class or one-to-one tuition, our key focus is to personalise the yoga practices to support your specific requirements. We create therapeutic yoga programs that you can  take home to explore in the privacy of your own environment.

Small And Supportive Group Classes

Group classes are kept small enough to ensure you receive individualised attention in a nurturing and supportive environment. You are encouraged to explore various yogic concepts such as movement, breath awareness, relaxation and meditation.

About Sri Krishnamacharya

At Anam Yoga we teach mostly from the lineage of the great master Sri Krishnamacharya, but also incorporate wisdom gained from other sources. Sri Krishnamacharya had many world-renowned students including:
  • Mr B.K.S. Iyengar (Iyengar Yoga)
  • Mr Pattabhi Jois (Astanga Vinyasa Yoga)
  • Indra Devi
These days Krishnamacharya's son T.K.V. Desikachar plus long time student A.G. Mohan and his son Ganesh Mohan continue to spread the teachings throughout the world, following the wisdom of the ancient texts such as "The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali" and the "Hathayoga Pradipika". Cari continues her primary yoga studies with Indra, A.G. Mohan and their son Ganesh Mohan from Svastha Yoga and Ayurveda India. Cari also draws on the wisdom of such teachers as Donna Farhi (NZ), Judith Lasater (USA) and Gary Kraftsow (USA).
