Cari Havican ND, Dip of Health (Yoga) Grad Cert in Yoga Therapy
Cari's passion for yoga started in the late 1980's when she personally discovered the centering and balancing effect that yoga had on her life. She has a background in naturopathy and remedial massage and finds this knowledge of the body complements her yoga teachings.
Cari is drawn towards the teachings of the Krishnamacharya lineage, particularly the concept of viniyoga (adapting the teachings to suit the uniqueness of each individual or group situation, thereby incorporating many different approaches).
Having taught yoga since 2000, Cari's greatest passion is working with individuals and small group classes in order to personalise the practices in a nurturing and supportive environment. She believes that working with yoga in this way will produce optimum healing results for each of her students. She encourages her students to be aware of their overall health and general well-being by exploring various yogic principles such as movement, relaxation, breath awareness and meditation.
Using yoga as a therapeutic aid to healing, Cari's special interests include: women's health, back care and rehabilitation from physical illness.
Cari's qualifications include:

ABOUT THE TEACHINGS
Cari teaches mostly from the lineage of the great master Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, and may also incorporate wisdom gained from other sources.
Krishnamacharya had many world-renowned students including Mr B.K.S. Iyengar (Iyengar Yoga), Mr Pattabhi Jois (Astanga Vinyasa Yoga) and Indra Devi - to name a few. These days Krishnamacharya's son - T.K.V. Desikachar and grandson - Kausthub Desikachar continue to spread the teachings throughout the world, following the wisdom of the ancient texts such as "The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali" and the "Hathayoga Pradipika".
Cari continues her primary yoga studies with Michael de Manincor - student of the Desikachar family and founder of Yoga Sanga in Sydney. https://www.yogasanga.com.au
